Research Agenda

Current Research

Our active investigations focus on validating analysis heuristics and discovering new patterns in cryptocurrency transaction analysis.

CIOH Court Defensibility

Literature Review

The Common Input Ownership Heuristic is foundational to blockchain analysis, yet published error rates range from 10% to over 90% across studies. We're documenting the scientific validation gaps that challenge court admissibility and working toward standardized benchmarks meeting Daubert evidentiary standards.

Findings from Literature

Nick (2015)90.79% precision on 37,585 wallets
M\u00f6ser & Narayanan (2022)10-47% TPR per heuristic variant
Gong et al. (2022)63.46% error rate in simulation
United States v. Sterlingov (2024)Daubert ruling admitted Chainalysis but noted lack of compiled error rates

Literature review complete. Methodology development in progress.

Timing Heuristics

Research Design

Temporal patterns in Bitcoin transactions — from network-level propagation to behavioral signatures — remain underexplored. We've mapped the research landscape, identifying that network-level techniques achieve 11-60% deanonymization while behavioral analysis enables entity classification with 50-90% accuracy.

Research Gaps Identified

Mempool timing dynamics
Real-time timezone inference algorithms
Cross-chain temporal correlation
Quantitative benchmarking
